I adopted Kelvin in March of this year. He was being treated for heartworm, so we could not do too much when he arrived. Although he got pretty good at “down-stay.” Since his health has been improving, we’ve been training and getting out and about in our dog training club and in the local parks. We’ve been on quite a few light hikes at nearby State Parks & Metro Parks with my Labrador, Washu. Kelvin likes the water but is unsure of swimming. He has awesome “bike manners.” He is a pro at loose-leash walking.
Kelvin has just graduated from Beginner Obedience class. He won a first place blue ribbon in the longest sit-stay competition which was one of the games held on graduation day. We start A.K.C. Canine Good Citizen class next week.
Update: Kelvin is doing great! He recently earned his A.K.C. Canine Good Citizen (C.G.C.) certificate. We are currently taking our first competition obedience class. We might try agility classes next year. Right now, Kelvin practices jumping through hula hoops! We had a great time on our summer trip camping and hiking in Manistee forest. Kelvin’s favorite activity, by far, is squirrel patrol in the backyard.
